Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus G2 offers, in a compact and portable design, SDI 12G technology to facilitate the connection of SDI mixers, such as the ATEM Constellation.
This improved version also allows you to control remote cameras from networks using REST interfaces and communicate with 3.5 mm connector for headphones.
Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus G2 retains the same 4K digital cinematographic sensor with a dynamic 13-step range and a Micro Cuatro Tercios mount just like the previous version. Thanks to its colorimetry and its wide dynamic range, it offers exceptional performance in low lighting conditions to obtain cinematographic quality images.
The maximum ISO value of 25 600 allows extraordinary results in unlit places.
Other features include communication system, pilot light, chromatic correction tools, Blackmagic RAW file recording on USB drives and live transmission on the Internet.

Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus G2 is compatible with a wide range of photographic objectives. These offer unmatched quality, as they have been designed to obtain high resolution images. In addition, the active mount allows you to adjust the lens at a distance, and it is possible to add controls to modify the focus and the focal distance from the handles of the tripod, as well as the larger study chambers. This offers the possibility of following the shots and handling the drive without removing the hands of the tripod, in order to avoid possible shakes, and is achieved the same experience as with more expensive B4 targets.
7-inch viewer to facilitate the frame
The large-resolution viewer revolutionizes how to work with the camera, as it facilitates the frame of the shots. In addition, it shows the status of the drive and the recording, the histogram, the focus indicators, the level of the audio, the frame guides and other data superimposed to the image, and allows to apply three-dimensional conversion tables to the shots, in order to see them with the desired appearance.
It also offers the possibility to access the menus and customize the camera settings. The included visor can be folded to protect the screen by transporting the drive and is compatible with the Blackmagic Studio Viewfinder device.
Physical controls and touchscreen
Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus G2 include physical controls and buttons, as well as controls on the touchscreen. Those on the right side of the unit allow to modify the brightness, contrast and focus indicator. The latter is very useful, as it facilitates the precise adjustment of the details in the brightest areas in order to achieve a perfect approach.
The three buttons on the left side are programmable, and it is possible to assign different functions or change them through the menus. The touch screen also provides important information for the overlay to the image and provides the opportunity to access the different camera settings.
Pilot light for air signal
The pilot light is lit in red when the camera is in the air, green if the images captured correspond to an advance, or orange if it is an isolated recording. It also includes transparent numbers to identify cameras more clearly.
The Blackmagic Studio Camera models are compatible with the SDI and HDMI signaling systems used in the different ATEM mixer models. When the director alternates between different cameras, the information is sent to the different units through the return SDI signal, which allows to activate the pilot light from which it is in the air. In turn, this eliminates the need to configure complex wirings and facilitates preparation for work.
Communication with the director
Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus G2 include
connections SDI that facilitate communication between the cameras and the person who manages the mixer during the transmission of live events. In this way, the director can select different shots and prevent multiple units from capturing the same image simultaneously.
Supports the use of 3.5 mm headphones designed for smartphones. The link is set through channels 15 and 16 of the SDI connection between the camera and the mixer, through the return signal, which offers the opportunity to use a wide variety of audio devices.
Exceptional performance in low light conditions
In advanced cameras, the ISO value measures sensor sensitivity to light. The higher this number, the higher the increase in profit, which allows to roll with natural light or even at night. In the Blackmagic Studio Camera models, this parameter ranges from -12 dB (100 ISO) to +36 dB (25 600 ISO), in order to optimize noise reduction and granulosity in the images while maintaining the full dynamic range of the sensor. The primary ISO value is 400 and is ideal for recording in studies, while the secondary value of 3200 is recommended when filming in low-light conditions. The gain can be adjusted on the camera or remotely from a mixer using a SDI or Ethernet connection.

Professional connections
Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus G2 supports a wide variety of professional and mass consumption equipment. Includes
hDMI and SDI 12G connections that allow to activate the pilot light, control the cameras and start the remote recording, so it is the ideal complement for the ATEM Mini or ATEM SDI line mixers.
In addition, this camera includes connections for microphones and headphones, as well as two USB-C expansion ports.

The HDMI connection allows you to use ATEM Mini mixers, transmit the images, activate the pilot light, control the cameras and start the recording automatically via a single cable.
In turn, the SDI 12G technology provides the possibility of connecting mixers such as the ATEM Constellation model and sending a return signal to the camera in order to control them or initiate a communication, for example.
Regardless of the selected option, audio is integrated into the signal transmitted through SDI and HDMI outputs to achieve a perfect synchronization between image and sound.
HDMI connectivity
The HDMI output allows you to connect mixers like the ATEM Mini model, activate the pilot light, adjust the color of the images and start the recording automatically from the mixer.
SDI connectivity
The SDI model allows you to enter a bidirectional communication between the camera and the mixer, through the respective output and the entry for the return signal, in addition to controlling the unit.
Ethernet connectivity
The 10G Ethernet connection allows to power the camera and transmit all signals using a single 6A copper cable, including images, return signal, communication and control of the drive.
USB connectivity
It is not necessary to have a mixer, as the large screen facilitates the shooting and frame of the shots, and the camera allows to record Blackmagic RAW files on USB drives.
Camera control
All ATEM mixers allow you to control the cameras by means of an integrated protocol in the SDI connection. The configuration is simple, as the commands are transmitted from the output of the device to the respective input in the drive. This offers the opportunity to activate the pilot light and adjust the color or objectives.
Just select the camera number and ready. It should be noted that even the ATEM Mini versions are compatible with the Blackmagic Studio Camera models, as the HDMI connection facilitates communication between both devices. Thus, the camera has greater freedom to concentrate on the approach of the shots.
Exceptional Blackmagic RAW Quality
Blackmagic RAW is an innovative format designed to record all the information captured by the sensor and preserve the quality. Other formats, such as H.264, have a high compression rate, as well as adding noise and artifacts to the image, thus causing a loss of details. However, Blackmagic RAW allows you to remove this problem and provides the possibility of obtaining exceptional images with sharpness and impressive color throughout production. The camera settings are stored as metadata in order to modify the ISO value, the white balance and the exhibition in DaVinci Resolve. In addition, files are small, so the program responds in an exceptional way when editing. Only Blackmagic RAW offers the best results, the most compact files and the highest speed.
Blackmagic Operating System
This advanced operating system is very intuitive and easy to use. It presents a modern structure in which all the chamber's performances operate independently, in order to facilitate its use, and allows the unit to turn on without delay. In turn, it includes the same controls and menus as the other Blackmagic cameras, so it is possible to alternate between different models without any major drawbacks. To set settings, add metadata or view the status of the recording, just click the screen or slide the finger over it. In addition, it provides the opportunity to control several advanced features, as well as the focus and exposure tools, three-dimensional conversion tables, dynamic range, metadata, time code and different Blackmagic RAW formats.
Interface in 13 languages
The Blackmagic Studio Camera interface is available in 13 different languages. By configuring the camera, it is possible to choose between Spanish, German, Chinese, Korean, English, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish and Ukrainian. On the other hand, it is very easy to change the language at any time through the settings menu. In doing so, all the information on the screen and the different menus will be displayed in the selected language.

Exceptional audio
Since the best location for the microphones is close to the cameras, the Pro version has been designed to get the best sound possible. This includes XLR inputs with two channels for balanced audio that support a +24 dBu line level, a preamplifier with P48 ghost power, an equivalent noise level of -131 dBV(A) and two digital converters with a dynamic range of 117 dB, in order to achieve the quality required by broadcasters and sound engineers. Thus, any microphone connected to XLR inputs will have a higher noise level than the audio of the camera.

Compatibility with LUT 3D
By using a logarithmic tonal response in the Blackmagic RAW files to preserve the dynamic range of the camera, these tables allow to process the images before they are displayed on the viewer, in order to prevent them from turning off. In this way, they are more pleasant when displayed on the screen. Tables are saved in the Blackmagic RAW files, so they can then be used in postproduction, but are not integrated into the image, so it is possible to disable them at any time. This provides an opportunity to apply them only if necessary.
