SONY Z280 Main Features
1/2" type 3CMOS sensor for 4K transmission
The new Exmor RTM sensor PXW-Z280 is tailor-made for 4K transmission. Yours 3C Exmor RTM type 1/2 offer a great depth of field with excellent image quality. The red, blue and green lights are independently captured by separate image sensors, which contributes to high resolution, high sensitivity of F12 (59.94 p) and wide dynamic range. A LSI advanced (with intelligent noise reduction, enhanced playback of distortion correction details and technologies) offers 4K 4:2 images of 10 bits incredibly realistic. Even if you are delivering on HD, your recordings will capture the details and texture of the image that HD sensors simply cannot see.
Professional lens with 17x HD zoom, three independent rings with top and large focal distance
La Sony PXW Z280 is equipped with a professional zoom lens 17x capable of approaching 30.3 mm to 515 mm (equivalent to 35 mm). The goal of 1/2“ has three independent control rings with cap, which allows manual control of the approach, the zoom and iris, allowing a better and faster setting. The image can be zoomed without image degradation in HD mode and 34 times the image equivalent to zoom is captured with the sensor clipper.

To meet the growing demand for HDR content, the PXW-Z280 offers the option of two powerful workflows.
S-Log 2/3 is the proven choice for premium applications where to record as much data as possible for maximum rating flexibility
The immediate HDR workflow has to do with speed. Graba, edit and visualize HDR content in Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) to deliver content quickly without compromising image expression or content quality.
Precision autofocus incredibly fast
Sony Z280 incorporates face detection AF. You can choose between face priority AF and single-face AF. Just keep the person in the frame and, no matter how he moves, you can be sure that the PXW-Z280 will keep your subject in a sharp approach.
Inbuilt neutral density (ND) filters
Sony's innovative integration of variable electronic ND filters into the body of a camcorder allows fast and agile recording. Sony PXW-Z280 has no problems recording from dark to outdoor interiors illuminated by the sun.
Unlike conventional ND optical filters, the Sony XDCAM Z280 electronic ND filter can be controlled from 1/4 ND to 1/128ND linearly, while ND filters can be configured completely automatically. You can even manually adjust the depth of the field using the iris lens ring, while you trust Sony Z280 to keep the exposure steady without changing the gain or shutter speed.
Workflow 12G-SDI
Review your workflow with a 12Gbps content transfer: four times the 3G-SDI bandwidth through a standard SDI cable, and is ideal for working with 4K content of the highest quality or accelerating with HD content. Sony builds 12G-SDI in a compact portable camera.
Precise OLED Viewer
A wide high-quality OLED viewer of 0.5 inches is perfectly compensated for the vision of the right or left eye. The excellent precision, high contrast and high resolution of the OLED viewer (2.36 million points) allow a precise manual approach and eliminates any color breakage phenomenon.
Multiple Interface Zapata (MI)
The camcorder Sony XDCAM PXW-Z280 is equipped with a flexible multiple interface Zapata that provides power, signal connections and on/off switching when connecting it with compatible Sony accessories. For example, you can connect and control Sony wireless microphone systems such as UWP-D11 or UWP-D12 or couple the HVL-LBPC * light on the front and back of the camcorder to maximize operational flexibility.
? Accessories are sold separately. The HVL-LBPC light does not consume PXW-Z280 energy.
Two XLR and 4 audio channels
The Z280 it has two XLR connectors, so that, although you remove the handle with its standard XLR connector easily accessible, the body incorporates a second connector, which makes it ideal for applications such as recording in small spaces, such as the inside of a car, or when mounting it in a suspension bracket.
The PXW-Z280 offers superior professional audio capabilities with stand-alone volume dials that enable precision control of external audio inputs, including a microphone connected to the multiple interface shoe (MI).
Two slots for SxS supports
La Z280 is equipped with two SxS memory card slots, which can be recorded in Simul mode (Simultaneous) or Relay mode (Relay). Simul mode allows simultaneous recording on two memory cards, including simultaneous recordings of MPEG HD exFAT and UDF recordings, ideal for file purposes. Relay mode (Relé) automatically changes the recording to the second memory card when the first one is full. In Relay mode the user can configure the two PXW-Z280 start/stop buttons, one on the grip and one on the camera body, to start and stop the recording independently of the recording on different memory cards while recording in Simul mode (Simultaneous).

PXW-Z280 offers complete production flexibility with built-in support for a wide variety of production formats.
• Recordings XAVC Log GOP and XAVC Intra of high quality
XAVC technology is based on the H.264 specification, which provides exceptional performance compression technology. The XAVC Intra compression (table) means that each frame is encoded regardless of the rest of the frames, which provides a better quality image, without problems. With a Long GOP codec, only a few pictures are encoded individually. This allows the codec to compress the video at a much lower bit rate than the Intra technology. The main advantage is a faster intake and editing. XAVC Long GOP files also require less storage space than XAVC Intra files, which saves budget on recording support. The XAVC codec adopts a 10-bit sampling for HD recording with an enriched tonal expression.
• Broadcast-standard MPEG HD 422 to 50 Mbps
The MPEG HD 422 to 50 Mbps complies with broadcasting regulations around the world, including those of the European Broadcasting Union (UER/EBU) on HD broadcast capture, for use in long-term programs. This recording capacity makes PXW-Z280 ideal for a wide range of different applications, including news collection and documentary production.
• DVCAM to 25 Mbps in MXF file format
Many broadcasters and producers continue to use the proven DVCAM format and the PXW-Z280 provides their support with just pressing a button.
